Description : “Doorway to the Ancient Ones”
Near Canyonlands National Park
2006

An advanced culture of people built great pueblos of stone and mud for their dwellings and storehouses. Traces of the ancestral Anasazi cliff dwellings are found throughout the Canyonlands in southern Utah. Architectural remains of a granary can be viewed through the doorway of an ancient home. Looking through the doorway, one may step back in time to the early 1100’s and envision a family of “basket makers” as they prepared a meal of corn, squash, and beans. Glancing back through the doorway, the ruins of a proud people are all that remain bringing questions about the disappearance of the “Ancient Ones.”
